WHAT IS DESTINY AND CHOICE?

Question: "Is our fate determined right from when we were born or is it constantly changing because of the decisions that we make in life? How do we know if we are making the right choices for ourselves in life?"

Psychic Advice:
Our life path is determined before we are born, but it is more a matter of intention and destiny than it is a matter of fate. Fate implies a situation that is beyond our control, in which we have no choice. We have Free Will and choice every step of the way, from before we are born, to after we die, and every moment in between.

Life is what you make it, and what you believe and choose it to be. If you believe that life just happens to you, then you will feel like a powerless victim of circumstance to whom things just happen. If, however, you recognize that you have the power of choice in your life, then you not only choose what you experience, but more importantly, you choose how you experience it, which determines the ultimate outcome of the experience for you.

For instance, there are days in life when it rains - it is not raining on your day or raining to spoil your plans, it is simply raining. How you choose to respond and react to the rain determines your experience of your day. The rain is simply a factor in your experience, but what determines your ultimate experience of your day are the choices you make in terms of your reactions and responses. Some people love the rain, while others let it ruin their day, but rain is simply a fact of life essential to the planet.

Life is a journey of choices, actions and reactions. Each and every moment is a moment of choice, and each moment presents us with a fork in the road that could change our life from that moment on. In this moment, you can choose to proceed on the same course in the same way you always have, or you can choose a different way of living altogether. You can choose to be happy or depressed, active or sedentary, ambitious or apathetic, grateful or resentful, etc. The choices are infinite in each moment, and each choice leads to a completely different outcome and experience of life.

You have the power to choose your destiny - your destination - which can change your life, but only if you take the steps that will get you there. You may feel a tremendous draw and inner yearning to go to California, for example, because you feel there is something there for you that may be part of your destiny. First, you must choose your route to get you from where you are now to your chosen destination. You can choose to drive, to fly, to take the train, etc. and you can choose the long way, the scenic route, the freeway, or you can even take detours along the way. At any point, you can change your mind and take a completely different route, which changes the journey altogether. This is the journey of life, and this is the power of choice that you have when it comes to your destiny.

As you take the steps to move toward your chosen destiny, your destiny also moves closer to you because it becomes magnetically attracted to you by the force of your Will and Intent. On the other hand, you can plan the journey all you want, but if you never take a step to move in that direction, you may never get there.

Before we embark on the journey of a lifetime, we are shown a "map" of what we plan to see, do, and encounter in our life. Along the journey, you will see certain signs that direct you to your destination, much like signs on the highway. The Universe is full of signs, like having "déjà-vu", which indicates that you are on the right path. You can also ask for three clear signs to show you the way, then pay attention to everything that you see, hear and feel.

The Universe is often full of humor, if we allow ourselves to see the lighter side of things, so many of these signs can come in humorous ways, like bumper stickers, or songs on the radio, or even lyrics that are stuck in your head. For every question you ask, the Universe provides an answer, but you must pay attention. In order to get the right answers, you must ask the right questions.

The best way to know if you are making the right choice for yourself in life is to determine how it feels to you. If you are constantly struggling and pushing your way upstream, then you may not be on the right path. When your Free Will is aligned with the life plan and life purpose that your Higher Self set for you, then life will tend to flow easily with a lot of synchronicity. This is because you are in "synch" with yourself and with your true destiny. If you are not on the right path, then your guides will tend to create obstacles and detours in an effort to guide you to take a different route.

The key to knowing what is right and true for you is to get a sense of how you feel about it in your heart and in your body. Before you make any choice, take a moment to close your eyes and go inside yourself. Imagine making that choice and feel how it feels inside you. If you feel tense, uncomfortable or afraid, then it may not be the best choice to make, but if you feel a sense of joy, ease, comfort, or excitement, then it truly fits you and your life plan. Always take a moment to try your choices on to make sure they fit you now, and for the future!
