DON'T WORRY, BE CONFIDENT

Question: "I look forward to know if I will find a good job for myself in the field I like, as securing a job is very important for me and my whole family is dependent on my earnings. Kindly help. Worried."

Answer: First, you must stop worrying. Worry is counter-productive, and wastes precious time and creative energy. Also, the energy of worry undermines your self-confidence, and can create sabotage. Worrying is the antithesis of faith, and you must have faith in the Universe and confidence in yourself in order to create the life and work that you desire.

Most of our communication with others occurs non-verbally, and our emotions convey energy that other people pick up on. Confidence creates an energy that people find most attractive and appealing. Confidence gives the impression that you know who you are, what you are capable of, and that you know what you are doing. Who would you trust more with responsibility: someone who appears confident, or someone who appears to be worried? Confidence gives the impression of competence, and confidence inspires confidence in others (but watch out for appearing to be arrogant or over-confident, which turns people off because it is a mask to hide insecurity).

You must take some time to get to know yourself, to get clear about your strengths, gifts, talents and abilities. Also be honest with yourself about your weaknesses, and have some ideas of how you can compensate for these shortcomings. Make a list of all the things that you are good at, all of the things that you are trained in, and things that other people have complimented you about (add everything to the list even if some things don't feel relevant). Now make a second list of all the things you enjoy doing, are interested in, want to do and have ever wanted to try. For the third list, write down what kind of lifestyle you want to have, how you want your days to be, and how you want to feel. Then look at these three lists together to get a sense of what kind of work would be best for you.

There are really two ways of going about the path of living life: the first is to wait and see what life offers you and choose from what is available, and the second is to take your power and design the life that you want to have. In both cases, you are responsible for your choices and experiences, but in the first option, you can end up feeling like a powerless victim of circumstance, while the second option is not only empowering, but aligns you as a co-creator in your own creation. Don’t' sell yourself out just for the sake of security; many people lead a dead end life in a dead end job just to feel secure, but security does not buy happiness.

Life offers infinite possibilities. As soon as you make a choice, you narrow those infinite possibilities into a certain set of available possibilities. These possibilities are limited only by what you believe is possible in your world and for yourself. If you believe that you can only choose from the possibilities that are presented to you, then you are limited to those possibilities, and can only choose the best of those available options. However, if you believe that the possibilities for you are infinite, and that you can choose and design exactly the kind of experience that you want to have, then you immediately start to draw those possibilities and options to you, even if they did not appear to be available options before.

This is true of anything that you want to create, whether it is a home, a relationship, or a job, the process of manifestation is the same. Your mind can limit your choices to what seems to be available at any given time, or you can choose to create your own reality. In other words, you can order from the menu, or you can ask the kitchen to make something to your liking. The Universe is that kitchen that contains every conceivable ingredient in any possible combination, and all you have to do is be clear about what you want.

In order to design your dream job, you must know what kind of job would be to your liking, and what conditions you would like to experience. What kind of boss would you like to have? What kind of co-workers would you like to be involved with, and what kind of relationship would you like to have with them? What kind of work environment do you want, and should your pay be based on performance (commission), or a secure hourly/monthly wage? Do you want a strict routine dictated to you, or do you want the freedom to set your own pace and responsibilities? What kind of work would you like to be doing (sales, typing, bookkeeping, at a desk or outdoors, alone or with people, by phone or face-to-face, etc) and what constitutes recognition for a job well done (bonuses, awards, rewards, etc.). What days and hours do you want to work, and do you want to travel? These are all important factors in your day-to-day enjoyment of your work. Each person is different, so it is best to get clear about what you want, so you and the "Chef" can cook up the situation that will be most enjoyable to you.

Once you know who you are and what you want, then you must have faith in your ability to manifest it without a doubt. Visualize yourself in a job interview and see it going perfectly well. Better yet, rehearse a job interview in the mirror, or videotape yourself. Write down all kinds of questions that an interviewer might ask you, including some tough or embarrassing questions, and practice answering them comfortably. Don't memorize your answers, but be comfortable enough with your own self that you can answer them easily. Make sure that your answers are to the point, answering the question thoroughly enough, but not getting off topic. Be as warm, open and relaxed as possible, because the more comfortable someone is with you, the more likely they are to hire you.

As you watch yourself, ask yourself if you would hire you. If not, what adjustments do you need to make in order to present yourself more favorably? I am not suggesting that you put on an act, but that you become so confident in who you are and in your abilities that you make the best presentation of yourself as the very best candidate for the job.

Having confidence in yourself is the key to having everything in life. When you walk into a situation where you need to feel more confident, put your right hand over you solar plexus at the base of your ribs (like Napoleon) - this is the center of your power and it will ground you and center you. Also, use your breath to center you and relax you, breathing into your solar plexus. It is normal to be nervous, but you can manage your nerves with your breath. Remember that before you speak, you can take a breath to pause and gather your thoughts. No one will take any notice of this as being out of the ordinary, and it will greatly help you to give well-thought out answers to any question.

What you focus your thoughts, energy and attention on is what you will create. Worry empowers and energizes what you don't want. The most important thing is to know what you want, and visualize yourself having it without a shadow of a doubt. If your family is supportive, they can help you by visualizing you being successful in your career, and seeing themselves proud and happy as a result. Let go of the feeling of pressure and responsibility that they are dependent on you, because this only weighs you down. Let them give you the support of their energy and their confidence in you so you can help support them. If their energy is not supportive, then you must ignore that and rely on your own faith and confidence in yourself. Your thoughts and beliefs determine your life, so be mindful of what you say to yourself about yourself. If you believe in yourself and believe that you can have what you want, you will succeed.
