REVENGE - GETTING EVEN - PAYBACK

Question: "Can't I invite some cheeky spirits to help me wreak revenge upon the people who abuse us held prisoner in this nursing home? Being a full-blooded Irishman who has fought the good fight in Ireland, I just can't seem to get revenge out of my head. Maybe when I have something else to concentrate on I will forget revenge. Anyway, just talking about it helps... until I see abuses again."

"Psychic Advice":
Whether you call it revenge, getting even, payback or "justice", vengeance is not sweet. The desire for revenge is born of bitterness and resentment, which fuel anger and rage that inspire malicious, malevolent and evil thoughts. Vengeful thoughts fill you with negativity, which only attract more negativity to you.

Thoughts trigger emotions and chemical reactions in the body. Thoughts of revenge, getting even or payback produce emotions and chemicals that attack and eat away at the body, creating all kinds of pain and disease within the body, including cancers and heart disease. Vengeful thoughts will not only consume your mind, they will also consume your body. This is why it is said that when you plot revenge, you must dig two graves, because vengeance can kill you slowly and painfully over time.

Revenge is a playground for the Dark Side. As you think dark thoughts of making someone else suffer, you attract all manner of darkness from the Universe, which is attracted to negativity like moths are drawn to a flame. If you call upon negative entities to help you "punish" someone else, they will be happy to oblige and to inspire you with all kinds of negative thoughts and malicious ideas, but they will not leave you alone afterward. Dark entities feed on negative energy, so they encourage negative thoughts and behavior, such as rage, addiction, vengeance and violence.

It is important to remember that thoughts are things - your thoughts plant seeds that begin to manifest on the causal plane. When thoughts are coupled with emotions, they create an electromagnetic frequency that draws everything to you that is on that same energetic wavelength of vibration. What you put out into the Universe comes back to you, and what you wish for another you bring onto yourself.

The Law of Karma follows the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" because you will experience the consequences of your actions, in this lifetime or another. The same is true for the abusers in your nursing home. For every action there is an equal and responding reaction, because the waves and ripples that a stone makes on a pond not only go out, but eventually come back. There is Divine retribution enacted in the Law of Karma.

What is the meaning of vengeance? When it comes to revenge, getting even and payback, you must remember that revenge is a double-edged sword that cuts you as it cuts them; getting even only brings you down to their level and makes you even/the same as them; and payback makes you keep paying. The result of getting even with someone is simply that you cause another pain and suffering, which then makes you the abuser and only serves to perpetuate pain, suffering and negativity in the world. There is no way to have vengeance with serenity, because revenge will haunt you throughout this lifetime, and potentially in others.

Lack of forgiveness perpetuates suffering because it keeps you bound to that other person. Forgiveness is not about condoning another person's actions, but it sets you free from them. If you do not forgive someone for the pain they caused, it binds your soul to them and creates karmic bonds that cause you to have to reincarnate with them in order to clear the issue. This means that you may experience further suffering with them in subsequent lifetimes until you forgive and release them.

What is the nature of vengeance? A desire for revenge often comes from feeling helpless and powerless, but when you focus on another person with thoughts of malice and vengeance, it further robs you of your power and can lead you to feel exhausted. This is because you are actually giving your power away to the person who is upsetting you. Rather than punishing them, every time you think of them in a negative way, you are giving your power to them. This causes you to suffer further, not them, and it keeps you reliving the pain and the wound over and over again. In fact, these thoughts keep you imprisoned in the pain and suffering perpetually. 

People who abuse others are angry, afraid, in pain or frustrated, and seek to release their pain and frustration on someone else. They have often suffered abuse themselves, and have therefore not learned to be kind, caring or compassionate. This does not justify their abusive actions, it simply explains the root cause.  You obviously have compassion for those being abused, and desire to have a sense of divine justice, but in order to do so, you must rise above and work on the level of the Divine. If you really want to heal the abuse, have compassion for the abusers so they can feel what compassion is. It is actually painful to hurt someone or something that you feel compassion for, so show them compassion so they can then have compassion for others.

You can try to report abuses to supervisors, or to government agencies, however, if the abusers are not properly dealt with, this approach can lead them to perpetrate even greater abuse in retaliation. You cannot fight negativity with negativity, because negative thoughts and actions only feed the negativity and make it stronger. This is how wars and feuds escalate, by one negative action leading to another increasingly negative action.

No matter what you call it - revenge, getting even, payback - no good can come of it, so don't listen to the demons whispering in your ear, and don't succumb to the temptation of vengeance. Instead, whenever you think of the abusers, send them love, compassion and forgiveness. Instead of calling upon nasty entities to wreak havoc on them, call upon angels of love and light to bring them true healing and peace (and send the angels to heal those who are being abused as well).

The only way to really "fight the good fight" is to use goodness itself as your weapon, because it is a non-weapon. If you let the abusers get into your head and under your skin, you let them win because you continue to suffer and give power to them. Love is the most powerful force in the Universe - if you radiate love, joy, forgiveness and compassion, it will keep you well, empowered and protected. Remember, living well is truly the best revenge.
