"LIFE DESTINY OR CHOICES
CONTROL LIFE?"

Question: "I would like to know how detailed and 'cast in stone' is the pre-birth planning. We clearly choose our parents and the environment we will be born into, and perhaps some important events in our childhood. But to what degree do we choose some key events and significant people (soul contracts) that come later in our lives? Some tell us our pre-birth plan is very detailed and generally our lives follow that plan, while others stress the free will we have in every moment to make choices that can greatly alter the original plan. For instance, if someone's fiancE died in a war, and this person has stayed alone for the rest of her life, was that planned and expected before she incarnated, or was it a choice of the woman to be alone for the rest of her life?"

Psychic Advice:
To what degree does your life destiny or choices control your life, and is fate determined by choice? The life plan that we create before we are born is essentially like a business plan for the business of life. Before incarnating, we start by determining what our mission, vision or objective will be for a particular lifetime: what will we choose to learn, accomplish and experience. This forms the basis for our life purpose, and it can be as vague or as detailed as a soul chooses it to be. For instance, a soul can choose to simply be a "healer" as a life purpose and leave the particular pathway to be determined, or a soul could choose a purpose of "healing families and children through working with animals".

The next step in making a pre-birth plan is to look at what karmic issues need to be resolved and with whom; we often try to incorporate as many opportunities to balance karmic issues as possible in a lifetime, whether we really want to or not. We also consider what we can learn or teach members of our soul group, and form sacred contracts with these souls to incarnate together for these purposes.

We choose our parents, our family members, our friends, and our significant others often because of sacred contracts or karmic bonds, but we still have free will and choice as to whether we satisfy those pre-birth agreements or not. This is why there are times when a person can meet a soul mate or someone that they are destined to be with, but that other person invokes his/her free will and chooses not to participate in the relationship. We can also meet a person and clearly see his/her highest potential, but they may choose not to express or live up to that in this lifetime.

Essentially, the Earth is a school that we come to in order to learn, grow and evolve - it is the University of the Universe. Our pre-birth life plan is our degree program, and we choose our major as our life purpose. Within that, we also choose our classes and our curriculum of what we want to learn and study that would fulfill our life purpose. Our destiny is the degree we pursue, and we choose how far we want to go with it, and whether we become masters, experts, doctors, or simply remain eternal bachelors.

Within the degree program of our life plan, there are certain classes that are required courses - these are our karmic bonds and karmic debts. There are also elective courses, which are entirely based on free will and choice. We choose our teachers for these courses in the form of our friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, partners, etc., but we rarely choose the detailed curriculum for the course ahead of time, because this is often up to our teachers to present to us. We also choose the environment that we will learn in within certain parameters, just as we would choose what college we want to go to because of what it offers toward our chosen life plan.

Just as in school, you have infinite choice once you get there as to what kind of a student you choose to be. You can cut classes, or you can apply yourself to excel. You can coast and focus your time and energy on partying, or you can seize the opportunity to put your passion into your chosen path in order to get the most out of it, because it is indeed a privilege that is available to relatively few souls.

You can choose your friends and your relationships, and you can choose how you react and behave with them. You choose whether to pursue, continue or end these relationships, and these choices impact your life accordingly.

Your original pre-birth life plan outlines opportunities available to you to accomplish your life purpose, goals and mission, but you choose many of the details as you go along. In fact, you can even choose not to go along at all, for the most part. You can effectively choose to change your major once you get here, or you can even drop out altogether.

A life plan, like a business plan, outlines intentions, motivations, opportunities, and proposed actions. It attempts to detail how to accomplish objectives, but it allows for ongoing choice in day-to-day situations because one cannot foresee every circumstance ahead of time, particularly because everyone else also has free will and choice moment to moment. Free will allows for flexibility to navigate the constant condition of change that is life on Earth.

In the case of a woman losing her fiancé in a war, both she and her fiancé would have agreed before incarnating to have this experience in this lifetime. However, she has absolute choice as to whether to remain alone and committed to a love that is no longer in her life, or whether to move on and risk experiencing love with another. Sometimes, these types of choices can be influenced by other lifetimes where the woman had entered a monastic lifestyle and is therefore more comfortable in solitude than in partnership. Some people who never remarry after divorce are fully committed to the vows they took of "til death do us part", and remain committed to that other person for the rest of their life, even if they don't share that life together. Some people can be so devastated by such love and loss that they fear the pain of loss repeating, so they never allow themselves to love again. There can be many reasons and influences for such a choice, but it is always a choice nonetheless.

Our pre-birth plan is never cast in stone. The benefit of a psychic reading is that in accessing the Akashic Record, we can look at what your life plan is and how you can best fulfill it, and we can also look at what other choices, options and opportunities are available to you for your happiness and wellbeing. New people and opportunities constantly present themselves throughout our life - some of these are karmic in nature, or form part of our sacred contracts or life plan. Our life destiny draws these experiences to us, but our choices control our life and the outcomes we experience. Our ultimate fate is determined by choice moment to moment throughout our lifetime - even beyond the last breath of a given life.
