A GREAT WAVE OF COMPASSION

How can one believe in a higher power in the face of such tragedy?

This great Tsunami is the proof of the existence of a higher power, of a force much greater than humanity. It reminds us as humans that control is an illusion; we have no control over this world, but we do have responsibility. We are responsible for the contributions we make to the well-being of our planet, or the destruction of our planet. We are responsible for how we choose to respond to any given circumstance. Responsibility is not about blame - nothing is to blame for what happens in nature, not even God. A Tsunami is a phenomenon that has naturally occurred on this planet for ages, as have other natural phenomena such as storms, earthquakes, avalanches, etc. When these phenomena occur in places that are not populated, they are simply nature at work, but when they are experienced by humanity, they become "natural disasters" because life is a fragile thing.

Nature is a great force, which ancient cultures used to revere and respect, and which we have lost sight of. There is a great and mysterious force at work here, one which the animals are still connected to. Nature sends out its warnings; it is not the desire of the Earth, our Mother, to harm its creatures. No animals were harmed by the Tsunami because they ran for higher ground ahead of time - elephants even broke their chains! (This is a metaphor in itself as chaining the mighty elephant is symbolic of our attempt to control nature, which can break free at any time.) Humans have lost this connection to nature and to the Earth through a belief in otherness, in separation, in man's superiority over all living things. This type of event is as humbling as it is sad. It is a reminder that we must reconnect with the nature inherent within us, and remain in awe of the higher power of creation, while remembering that we are one with it - we cannot control it, nor can we continue to harm it.

Just as the animals received warnings ahead of time, humans have the same opportunity to be in tune with God and nature. There are always those who get a certain feeling not to board a plane, and not to be in a certain place at a certain time. Our intuition is an inner guidance system that is meant to protect us, as long as we are willing to listen. We all need to reconnect with our own true nature, our own power and our own higher consciousness.

Is this some form of punishment? Why do the innocent die?

Natural disasters are not some form of punishment, they are simply the Earth's way of cleansing herself, by moving, releasing and shifting energy. It is no different than our own bodies needing to stretch, to release gasses and waste. These events are natural, they are not personal. The Tsunami is only personal to those who've been touched by it; for so many, it is truly a great tragedy, while for others it has been an awakening, and an inspiration.

It is not so much an issue of innocent people dying, but it is more about the purpose that their deaths have served. This great catastrophe has awakened profound caring and compassion in all of humanity, all over the world. Unfortunately, it takes a great deal of human pain and suffering in tragedies such as this in order for humans to come together in love and compassion. As long as this is what it takes in order to move us to grow and evolve as souls, then we will continue to manifest such disasters to serve us in our awakening. Those who lost their lives sacrificed themselves for this higher ideal, whether they were conscious of it or not.

There is always a greater picture and a larger plan, which we humans cannot readily see. We are so small in the big picture - we really have only an ant's perspective on the Universe. The soul is eternal. Each soul comes to incarnate on Earth with an intention of having certain experiences that will support the growth and evolution of that soul. For some, this is a short journey, while others may live a long life; for some, a great deal of suffering is involved, while others experience a great deal of joy and prosperity; some choose to be creative, while others choose to destroy. Ultimately, it is "all good", because it all serves to create facets of different experiences so the soul may evolve. A great deal of growth and evolution takes place through pain, and also through love and compassion. As souls, we have been all things, and we will have all experiences on our journey back to the One, as Creator discovers Itself through us and experiences Creation through our experiences.

The people who have lost everything in those devastated countries need our love, our compassion and our support. They need our prayers and our help, whatever we can offer, and every bit counts. Do for them what you would wish would be done for you, because it might be you in another life, at another time, who needs the love, support and compassion of your fellow man. What goes around comes around on the wheel of incarnation. Ultimately, this tragedy is a great gift for all of us to come together and realize that we are one family, and that we must love and care for one another with compassion. We all share one home on this great and beautiful planet, and we must love her as our Great Mother, and love all our brothers and sisters on this Earth.

Why doesn't God intervene?

We are governed on this Earth by the law of Free Will, a gift that God gave us that allows us to be creators on this plane of existence. Free Will does not exist in all parts of the Universe, and in effect, it is a great experiment. The gift of Free Will allows us to create our own reality, and to determine our own experience. Many people are unaware that they have this great power, and so they feel that they are victims and that life just happens to them. For every choice we make, there is a consequence - for every action, there is a reaction. What we choose to think, to feel, and to do, puts creation into motion, and begins the process of manifestation.

We are given countless opportunities to grow in our own consciousness and to move closer to God. A tragedy such as this is a profound opportunity for us to grow in our compassion and love for one another, and in so doing, become closer to God. Why would God intervene in this process when compassion is a great gift? This event has caused soldiers to build bridges instead of destroying, to support life instead of taking it. This is a great gift of peace, of healing, and a great opportunity for the growth and evolution of all of humanity, if we choose to accept it.

We must not blame God, but instead be grateful, even for this. Gratitude raises our vibration and consciousness, just as compassion does. Every experience is an opportunity to grow and evolve, and as humans, we tend to grow and evolve most through suffering - either through our own suffering or through the suffering of others, because this evokes empathy and compassion. This is a choice, and you have Free Will to choose how you grow and evolve, and how you respond to any given situation. This is your responsibility.

No parent wants their child to suffer, and neither does God, but suffering is a choice. From God's perspective, there is only creation; there is no such thing as loss or tragedy, there is only opportunity for growth, for evolution and for the raising of consciousness. How we get there is our choice. There is no judgment, there is no good or bad. Everything simply is. Don't take it personally. It is not personal unless you are touched by it, either through compassion, which is a gift, or through grief, which is an opportunity to grow and evolve emotionally. This has been a sad and catastrophic event, but also an opportunity for the healing of humanity and the planet.

Is there a metaphysical reason for this Tsunami?

Water represents emotion, so a Tsunami is a tidal wave caused by overwhelming emotion. This huge Tsunami occurred over the holidays when many people in the world were experiencing a great deal of emotion. Some people get carried away with the spirit of joy in the holidays, while others get inundated with stress, and still others are overcome with pain. Many people end up in the emergency room over the holidays with chest pain, because the heart becomes stressed for a variety of reasons. Our thoughts and emotions affect everything around us, because we are all connected, and we are all one. These great waves of emotion produced a great wave of water that literally inundated humanity and carried people away, overwhelming us all.

Our thoughts and emotions go out as energy waves and create all manner of storms in our world. Our energies affect each other, as well as the nature around us, and the Earth itself. There have been experiments involving plants where one plant is spoken to with love and the other with hatred - the one that received love thrived while the one that received hate withered. This is the power of our thoughts, of our words, of our emotions, and we must take responsibility for our creation.

We must also take responsibility for our actions. As a whole, humanity has been abusing and violating our Mother Earth for the last century. The Earth is a living entity that allows us to live off her body. We are true parasites, and are becoming a pestilence as we continue to multiply and pollute at an ever-increasing rate. Something must change. This is a wake up call for humanity: we are being warned that either we must change, or the Earth will change. This message has been coming for the past 30 years, but we have been refusing to pay attention and make the necessary changes.

Each one of us is responsible. The increase in the drilling for oil is a major concern, but it continues because we each continue to consume oil at an alarming rate. If we do not change our patterns globally, then the Earth will change hers in her desire for self-preservation. We will see an increase in storms and natural disasters as the Earth cleanses herself.

In order to bring about peace, we must all surrender to peace within - stop all the stress we inflict upon ourselves and upon the Earth, and relax into love and gratitude toward each other and toward our planet, which is our one and only home. Do not seek to blame anyone or anything for such tragedies - do not blame God, or the Earth, or even each other, but take personal responsibility for your own thoughts, emotions, words and actions, because only you can bring about peace in your world.
